Soon after placing my order, I was reminded of a David Foster Wallace essay "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again", about his experiences on a cruise ship. Wallace noted how determined the cruise line was that passengers enjoy themselves; the attitude seemed to be "You will have fun on this cruise even if we have to break your arms and legs." I figured out the connection. Uzaki has appointed herself the cruise director of Sakurai's life and she does go all out in her efforts, even giving him a concussion at one point. Uzaki is something else; this is a woman ready to go to war over the subject of mint chocolate. She also has a new job working at the same cafe as Sakurai. Meanwhile, we meet, Sakaki, a friend of Sakurai's and he and Asai, whose dad owns the cafe, find themselves in contention over how best to make Sakurai and Uzaki a couple. There is a trip to the beach and not surprisingly, Uzaki looks spectacular in a bikini. She reaches the legal drinking age and decides to sample alcohol, or over-sample, which gives Sakurai a delicate situation. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! continues to be a funny series. Uzaki has a winning charm which keeps her from going over the line into obnoxiousness. It will be worth seeing what she plans for Sakurai in the next volume. Uzaki-Chan wants to hang out volume 2 continues the manga of Shinichi Sakurai a tsundere who has a friend with a big personality as they get in all sort of adventures. First and foremost the art is fantastic for a slice of life comedy it is beautifully drawn and the characters all have personality. The humor also lands mostly some jokes are funnier than others but it was still humorous regardless the scene with the beach and the watermelon was pretty funny I'm still laughing. The fourth wall also gets broken from time to time and the manga shows you its self aware which adds to the humor. One page shows a fan service friendly version of the waiter from the previous chapter and the author said she was a fan favorite. It was funny. The characters also play-off each other great we get introduced to Sakurai's high school friend and see the cast grow.Uzaki-Chan is a great manga an Anime is coming in the summer I can't wait for that but you should still read the manga for the art alone.
